Italian company specialized in the production of special cotton yarns

Made in Italy yarns that combine tradition and innovation

SGL Filati is one of the few spinning mill for production of cotton yarns remained in Italy.

We work according to the highest product standards to offer to our customers the highest Made in Italy quality. In addition to the production of yarns made for the TBM Group, we propose a vast catalog of special cotton yarns for high-end weaving and knitting in Italy and abroad.

Excellence comes from the research of the best fibers in the world.

At the base of our product, there is an accurate and in-depth research of raw materials, with particular attention to natural fibers. Through checks and tests in our laboratory, we determine the suitability of the fiber before working it and we can assure maximum traceability.

We invest to offer innovative and quality yarns, produced entirely in Italy.

The development of our yarns is aimed at anticipating fashion trends, thus playing a proactive role. This enables our customers to meet the changing needs of the final consumer.

Our product

SGL Filati’s offer consists of a wide range of cotton yarns: not only carded and combed cottons but also the most varied slubs, crepe and corespun yarns. We developed some yarns in several stages up to a real tailor made for certain customers. In more recent times, following the evolution of fashion, particular focus has been placed on blends with other natural fibers (linen, silk, cashmere and wool) and artificial (modal, lyocel, cupro) both firm and elastic.

Certifications

In 2020, we acquired the GOTS certification for organic cotton, which is an integral part of the production program. The Made in Italy Certificate of Origin is available for all production, which today constitutes a very important benefit.

Our raw material

Cotton, wool, linen and cashmere come from the best international producers and from suppliers who offer a guarantee of reliability. The same procedure applies to the artificial fibers used for blends, such as Modal, Lyocell and Cupro, which are purchased mainly from European producers.

Our history

The TBM Group, to integrate its production chain, in 1989, acquired an historic and successful cotton-spinning mill in the Verona area.

In 1992, following a well-defined development program, a new production unit was built in Buccino in the province of Salerno, equipped with modern and versatile systems and processes. With the increase in production capacity, it was possible to allocate part of the yarns for the market and sale to other users such as knitwear factories, fancy spinners, weaving and hosiery factories.

All production of SGL Filati is now concentrated in the spinning mill of Buccino, which over the years has been expanded and integrated with new technologies.

Our production

SGL Filati production has focused on quality and the offer of innovative yarns. In 2013, with the aim of specializing in research and development, we created an experimental room for the production of special yarns.

At a time when there are no longer spinning mills in Italy, this is possible the differentiation of the finished product, making it almost inimitable.

The complete vertical integration of TBM Group, which includes spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing, allows us to exploit the synergies offered and develop products in advance of competitors and to test them at 360 degrees before offering them to customers.

Committed to the environment

SGL Filati has started a project in collaboration with the European community for the recovery of scraps and waste for production of recycled yarns.

Circular economy

SGL Filati ha avviato un progetto in collaborazione con la comunità Europea per il recupero degli scarti e dei cascami per la produzione di filati riciclati.
